A new workshop created especially for the Buderim Craft Cottage 2025 Winter School!

What to expect

What is a collograph? Simplistically, it’s a collage that you print.

What is a cut-out? Shapes and stencils cut from paper and cardboard that can be inked up and printed, and/or used for embossing.

Experience the potential of printmaking without a traditional press, using collagraph and blind embossing techniques. Explore different approaches to creating, inking, and printing textured printing plates and cut-out shapes. Learn processes that you can explore further at home with minimal equipment. There will be an opportunity to apply gold leaf to artworks as a special embellishment.

Day One: Learn the processes of embossing, collagraphy and cut-outs—from practical demonstration to experimenting with hands-on doing.

Day Two: Apply your new skills to creating small artworks. Explore the use of gold leaf.

About the tutor

“Ink runs through my veins” says your tutor, printmaker and artist, Kim Herringe. While Kim’s speciality is linocut printmaking, she also enthuses over monoprinting, etching, cyanotype and more.

The natural environment significantly impacts Kim—it gives her both inspiration and inner peace. Kim’s creative activities are based at her studio in North Maleny.
